Delivers Gingerbread and other enhancements

Verizon has released a new update for its Casio G'zOne Commando. The download updates the phone to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), as well as providing some improved performance for Verizon specific features. Verizon claims that a key benefit of the update will be reduced lag.

The update will provide improved calling features including the screen brightening when the phone is touched while docked during a call and the the Proximity Sensor more accurately sensing a presence during a call. Also, the auto signature can be enabled from within SMS and MMS messages. In the update, Verizon has preloaded its V Cast Media Manager for those who prefer the carrier's suite to Google's own.

The Commando, launched in April, is water, shock and dust resistant. It comes equipped with an 800MHz processor, a 3.6-inch display, and a five-megapixel camera.
