Acer and Foxconn say goodbye to Jobs
Taiwan's technology industry gave its own tributes to the late Steve Jobs Thursday morning. Acer, one of his most frequent competitors, called him a "very innovative and visionary leader" who had impacted technology for at least the past decade. The PC builder, which created the Iconia Tab because of Apple and the iPad, was saddened and saw his death as a loss for the industry and the public.
Apple's key manufacturer Foxconn also issued its own condolences. The company considered Jobs' death a personal loss and gave him the most praise for making technology easy to use, not just popular.
"We are truly saddened by the passing of Steve Jobs, an industry visionary, a true partner to our company, and a great friend," Foxconn said. "Steve had an immeasurable and positive impact on the lives of people around the world and the global electronics industry is all the better for the many contributions he made to ensuring that technology is understandable, beautiful, and, most importantly, accessible to people from all walks of life."
Deals for the iPad, iPhone, and other devices at Foxconn have led Apple to represent more than a fifth of Foxconn revenues.
