Samsung Galaxy Nexus leak: 9mm thick, 1.2GHz TI chip, 4G

Galaxy Nexus details spill out days early

New details of Samsung's Android 4 flagship may have surfaced in a late leak. The curved design, possibly called either the Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus, is expected by a reliable BGR source to be thicker than the Galaxy S II but thinner than the iPhone 4S, at about 9mm (0.35in) thick. As the banner phone for Google's new OS, nicknamed Ice Cream Sandwich, it's also now believed to carry the 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor that will be the reference chip for Android 4 phones.

Outside of these core features, many of the details will line up with the Galaxy S II HD LTE that just launched in Korea. Its centerpiece should be a 4.65-inch, 720p Super AMOLED HD screen. The phone should carry just a five-megapixel back camera and 1.3 megapixels in the front, but it should record 1080p video. Samsung should outfit it with 32GB of built-in storage and the NFC it gave the AT&T version of the Galaxy S II, along with a possible contact-based dock.

The tip reiterated the rumor of it arriving on Verizon and suggested there would be different network implementations depending on the carrier. The Verizon model, and presumably versions for other full 4G carriers like AT&T and Rogers, would use LTE. Others might still be onside with HSPA 3G.

The device might be Verizon-exclusive in the US, although it's possible close variants might reach other networks. It may reach the CDMA carrier either late this month or early November. With its feature set, the pricing could make it one of Verizon's most expensive phones ever. Verizon is rumored to consider the Galaxy Nexus or Nexus Prime its real iPhone 4S rival where the Galaxy S II isn't advanced enough.

    Thiner ? ...

It can't be thicker than the Galaxy S II but thinner than the iPhone 4S - the court ruled (in the OK) that the iPhone 4 was thiner - all the Samsung phones have a higher part on one end (with chips / antennas inside).

    have to say

I have to say -- that looks like 1 sweet phone. Better front camera, payment chip, readable-in-sunlight large screen. Put in a better back camera -- to match the iPhone 4S, open it up to Google cloud in the same way iCloud gives cross-platform storage, and you've got a contender.
