SSDs offer read speeds of up to 70,000 IOPS
Plextor has added a new line of drives to its SSD product family. The M2P series of SATA III, 6Gbps SSDs will come in both 128GB and 256GB models. They should carry high performance random read speeds of 70,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second) and random write speeds of 65,000 IOPS.
The drives run on Marvell 88SS9174 controller chips and a three year warranty. Plextor claims that their new drives have the lowest annual failure rate in the industry.
This is the second series of SSD drives that Plextor has announced this year. In February, the company launched the M2S 64GB, 128GB and 256GB family.
Plextor bundles Acronis True Image software with the drives. Pricing in the UK is set at £200 ($308 USD) for the 128GB drive and £335 ($516 USD) for its larger 256GB sibling. Plextor will begin shipping the drives in the UK later this month. The company hasn't set pricing or availability for the US. [via SlashGear]

They have'nt got past the 256 GB barrier yet which is holding them back. If they were to top out at 500GB they might be worth while investing in.
