Update also allows instant "+1" approval

Google has released a new update for its Google Books app (free, Android Market). Key amongst the changes is better support for seven-inch tablets. Readers can also now give their +1 approval while reading a book.

For phone viewers, Google has added in-book search capabilities as well as a landscape mode for flowing text. Using the app, a reader can store up to 16,000 book titles on their mobile device (using a 32GB microSD card). They can also adjust the text size, typeface, line space, and justification. At night, readers can use a special "night-reading" mode so as not to disturb others. Google Books also offers users free reading samples.
