Verizon 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 clear out

Verizon in confirming its iPhone 4S plans said it was clearing out existing iPhone 4 models. Its 16GB and 32GB models have been slashed to $150 and $200 on contract respectively. Verizon hasn't said how long it expects the older phones to stay in stock.

The carrier also began taking preorders for the 8GB iPhone 4. Like others, its version will cost $100 in black or white colors and ship with iOS 5. Verizon expects it to ship to customers on or before October 13.

As with all other smartphones, the price-dropped iPhone 4 as well as the iPhone 4S going up for preorders Friday will use Verizon's regular smartphone plans. These need the minimum of a $40, 450-minute voice plan and a $30, 2GB data plan.
