BlackBerry X, or BBX, the name of new QNX OS?

At the QNX Auto Summit Japan 2011, a slide confirmed that the new name for the upcoming BlackBerry Platform name is known as BBX, or BlackBerry X. According to the QNX Team Auto blog, BBX will be used to power the PlayBook tablet and BlackBerry smartphones. A formal BBX presentation is expected to come at DevCon.

The conference had to do with in-car entertainment systems, with a focus on an in-car system called QNX Car 2. It will have support for BBX, iOS and Android mobile platforms. DevCon is two weeks away.

The new OS would likely merge RIM's phone and tablet platforms. The QNX-based OS would bring better multitasking and more media features while putting a stronger emphasis on touch. [via CrackBerry]
