LG Optimus 3D to get converter update this month
The promised 3D Game Converter software for the LG Optimus 3D smartphone will soon be available, LG said this week. The first Maintenance Release for the phone will include the software, which will roll out in Europe later in October. Other regions are due to get the software over the next few weeks.
The 3D Game Converter will let users transform OpenGL-based 2D games into 3D while retaining the option to switch back to 2D at any time. This way, users won't need to rely on special 3D games to enjoy the phone's 3D feature. Once installed, users need to activate the 3D Game Converter app. It requires Open GL-based games and a landscape orientation for the game. Users can then manually fine-tune 3D depth and vision settings as they see fit. The 3D hot key switch flips games between 2D and 3D.
LG is also teasing another update related to 3D in the near future. It would bring a 3D Video Editor for creating and editing 3D movies on the handset, allowing watching 3D movies in 2D in a single-screen mode and Dolby Mobile sound. Finally, it promises automatic 2D video stabilization.
