Samsung Captivate Glide possible set back

Samsung's upcoming Android slider for AT&T, sometimes pegged as the Galaxy S Glide, has been given some extra details both through BGR leaks and Electronista's own sources. The smartphone should arrive on AT&T as the Captivate Glide, not Glyde. It has also reportedly been delayed to early 2012, though for reasons unknown.

Electronista can vouch for what hardware details are known, such as the eight-megapixel camera and current use of Android 2.3. So far, it may just be a slightly upgraded Galaxy S in line with the name, using the same single-core 1GHz processor but adding an eight-megapixel camera and a front camera.

Our own sources had the device ready to appear as soon as mid-October, possibly lining it up for a reveal at the CTIA show this week. A delay to 2012, if accurate, suggests either significant technical issues or a desire to put it out into a different release schedule. October this year has one of the more heated release schedules and will see the Captivate Glide fighting with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, Droid Bionic, and possibly the Galaxy Nexus, among others.
