Handset name in EXIF data from Google engineer

Photos allegedly taken by Samsung's new Android 4 flagship handset, Galaxy Nexus/Nexus Prime, have appeared on Google+. The pictures were shared by two Google engineers, Roman Kirillov and Chris Yerga, and show "Galaxy Nexus" as the camera name in the EXIF data. The photos use the default resizing for Google+, which limits them to 3 megapixels instead of the 8 megapixels indicated by previous leaks.

The Nexus/Prime is expected to be Samsung's first handset to use Ice Cream Sandwich, the upcoming Android 4.0 release.

Earlier leaks have pointed to either a five or eight megapixel camera, a 4.65-inch, 720p Super AMOLED HD screen, 32GB of built-in storage, near-field communications (NFC) and a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4460 processor.

The handset was expected to be unveiled at CTIA but was delayed at the last minute. The reason given was as a gesture of respect for Steve Jobs, but rumors suggest that the ongoing patent battles between Apple and Samsung may have played a part. No new official date has been set, but a Verizon employee recently leaked November 3 as the launch date. [via SlashGear]
