Nexus Prime coming "sooner than you think"

The Nexus Prime smartphone will be officially announced "very shortly" and arrive in stores "sooner than you think," according to Samsung UK Sales Director Andrew Glass. He was speaking at an event after receiving a Phone of the Year award for the Galaxy S II from T3. The name for the first Android 4.0 handset was also confirmed by Glass to remain Nexus Prime.

The Nexus Prime launch event was expected today, but Samsung has delayed it out of respect to the passing of Steve Jobs.

The handset is expected to otherwise sport a large 4.6-inch Super AMOLED display with native 720p resolution, which translates to 320 pixels per inch, nearly matching the iPhone 4's pixel density. A dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos might power it and an LTE-based 4G is expected to be onboard. Rumors have the device launching at Verizon in the US on November 4.
