Xbox 360 fall 2011 Dashboard gets early testing

On cue, Microsoft has started up its Xbox Live Public Preview for the fall 2011 Xbox 360 Dashboard. Gamers who sign in with a Windows Live ID and register for Microsoft Connect should be entered into the running to be included in the public phase of testing in the last few weeks before the official launch. Access isn't guaranteed, although Microsoft hasn't said what if anything affects a user's chances.

The fall update brings a heavily remade, tiled interface built much like the look of Windows Phone and Windows 8. Bing voice-guided search, YouTube video, and a form of app environment are expected to come in the mix. Certain subscribers also get live and on-demand TV access depending on who their Internet or traditional TV providers are. North Americans also get live UFC regardless of any existing service.

The Dashboard update is rumored to go live in mid-November. UFC is officially on track to go live by December 1, making that the latest point at which the Xbox 360 update should reach the public. [via WinRumors]
