Current models in shortage

Apple is on the verge of updating its MacBook Pro lineup, leaked information suggests. Stock of current models is described as "heavily constrained," to the point of nearly being empty. Like many companies, Apple regularly stops production of old products a few weeks ahead of the launch of new models.

Five new models are said to be in Apple's inventory system. As before these include two 13-inch systems, two 15-inch ones and one 17-inch configuration. Three codenames are in use: K90IA for 13 inches, K91A for 15 inches, and finally K92A for 17 inches.

The A is believed to signify that Apple will make relatively few changes. These should at least include minor speed boosts, and a switch to Bluetooth 4.0, as in the MacBook Air and iPhone 4S. Beyond that, though, Apple will likely just keep parts and storage competitive with similar Windows PCs.

... the best xmas ever for me. I've been meaning to get an MBP for a while now, so the timing really couldn't be better. Thanks for the heads-up, MacNN!
