RadioShack now accepting pre-orders for iPhone 4S [U]

Trade-in program makes discount possible


[Updated with trade-in details, new Sprint offer] RadioShack stores around the country are now accepting pre-orders on both black and white iPhone 4S models in all capacities with service from either AT&T or Verizon. The company will also accept Sprint pre-orders for the iPhone 4 8GB in black and white today and tomorrow only. RadioShack is using its Trade & Save program to offer customers the option of shaving up to $200 off the price the new iPhone.

Beginning on Friday, the company will guarantee $200 off the price of the iPhone 4S in exchange for a working 16GB or 32GB iPhone 4. A 32GB working iPhone 3GS will receive $125 off the purchase. Non-working models are also being accepted: a non-working 32GB iPhone 3GS will fetch $50, while a non-working 16GB or 32GB iPhone 4 is worth $75.

Other models of smartphone can also be traded in for up to $200 in savings on the iPhone 4S, but amounts vary. The program will accept trade-ins from October 14th to October 31st. The iPhone 4S is expected to arrive in stores in limited quantities starting on Friday. The Sprint iPhone 4 will be offered as an upgrade or with a new contract for $99.99, or $549.99 for an unactivated handset.

The company has also been added to the list of retailers selling the AppleCare+ policy on new iPhones, joining Target, the three U.S. phone carriers, and Apple itself.
