Xbox 360 tops US sales again in September

The Microsoft Xbox 360 was the best selling gaming console during the month of September in the US, market research company NPD Group revealed. The company outsold the Wii and PS3, moving 438,000 units, though what the others sold isn't available, as neither Nintendo nor Sony has made the data public. Other than December of last year, Microsoft sold the most consoles for the last 15 of 16 months.

During the last six months, the console held more than a 40 percent market share. A Dashboard update in November will aim to improve the console by bringing a Metro-style interface. The company should also allow users to access YouTube and Bing with the console. The Kinect add-on should also allow searching for movies, music and other content using voice control.

An Xbox Live TV service will bring fresh content from a number of partners as well. It's expected the console will maintain its sales dominance lead in the near future thanks in part to these improvements. [via WinRumors]
