Celebrities, corporate barons attend Jobs memorial service

updated 10:45 am EDT, Mon October 17, 2011

List only partly complete

(Updated to downplay Baez's role) A partial list of the people present at Sunday's private memorial for Steve Jobs has been published, says Fortune. Among the people there were Apple executives Tim Cook (CEO) and Scott Forstall (senior VP for iOS), and board members Bill Campbell and Al Gore. Former US President Bill Clinton was also in attendance; one of the people most closely connected to Jobs, though, may have been singer Joan Baez, who once dated him during the late 1970s and early '80s.

With the exception of Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter, most of the other notable people at the memorial did not have any direct personal relationship with Jobs. Celebrities included actors Stephen Fry and Tim Allen, U2 singer Bono, and former California first lady Maria Shriver. Corporate magnates were by far the more dominant guests, among them Dell's Michael Dell, Oracle's Larry Ellison, Google's Larry Page and Microsoft's Bill Gates. Adobe co-founders Chuck Geschke and John Warnock were in the audience, as was News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch and his CTO, Jon Miller.

Rounding out the known list of guests were Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel, Angel Investors founder Ron Conway, and Silicon Valley attorney Larry Sonsini. Who else might have attended is unknown, but the list is likely omitting relatives, less famous friends, and/or people who simply didn't want their attendance advertised.

    Say what?

I suspect his wife might object to Joan Baez being described that way.

"With possible the exception of Pixar chief creative officer John Lasseter, most of the other people at the memorial did not have any thorough involvement."

    It was a mob...

I was there too, and I'm a nobody. Steve took an interest in me at an early age and got me programming on a Mac he gave me when I didn't have any money to get one. I'm going to miss him very much, he accomplished in a short life what many can only dream of. I'm heart broken of his loss.
