Some iPhone 4S owners reporting screen quality issues

May signal repeat of adhesive issues

Some iPhone 4S buyers are reporting problems with subpar screens, Apple's support forums indicate. When issues are present, the overriding complaint is of a yellow tint, especially notable when a 4 and 4S are compared side-by-side. People are also upset, however, at problems with poor contrast and/or washed-out colors.

The issue may mark the return of a problem that affected the iPhone 4 early into its lifecycle. At the time devices were being shipped so quickly after assembly that screens continued to show signs of a yellow adhesive. The residue would eventually disappear though, leaving behind normal phones.

As long as the illumination is even

I prefer the softer/warmer color cast as opposed to the previous version's bluer color cast.

    It's actually improved.

Being a photographer who's obviously very concerned about color, I find the new screens to be vastly more color accurate that the iPhone 4 screens.

    "Some?"

Unless you quantify that the only thing yellow here is the alleged journalism.

    Wow

People should be smarter by now. The yellow is the adhesive and it will go away; not worth complaining about -- not worth reporting. Do you think it's easy to keep up with the demand of 4,000,000 sales in one weekend? No. Your iPhone needs time to cure and it will do so in your hand rather than the factory because you wanted it right away. Geezuz people.

Yeah, how dare people complain. They should know that they need to research each problem they have with an apple product and determine that there really isn't a problem at all. You'd think people would be smarter than to think the phones would come out of their box in 100% great shape. Idiots.

    Same Problem Different Model

This same issue happened with the original iPhone 4. The problem is temporary. It just has to do with the manufacturers sending the phones before the display adhesive dries.
