Sony Ericsson Xperia pro ready for market at last
Sony Ericsson signalled Monday it was at last getting close to a launch for the Xperia pro. The work-grade Android phone is now due to ship this month, about eight months after we tried it in Barcelona. Exact carriers and prices haven't been identified.
No explanation has been given for the delay.
The pro is unique in Sony Ericsson's entire line in taking advantage of its QWERTY slider design to run several landscape modes: e-mail, music, and other elements have side-by-side layouts that make more use of the available space. It comes both with Office Suite Pro and McAfee Security to ready it for those who need to use it at work.
In hardware, the phone is close to its cousins and has the same 1GHz Snapdragon and the 8.1-megapixel camera of the Xperia arc and neo. Relatively unique to the pro are its 3.7-inch display and ANT+ support for heart monitors and other live exercise tracking gear.
