Apple stores close for Steve Jobs tribute event

To pay tribute to the memory of co-founder Steve Jobs, Apple closed its stores in the US on Wednesday for three hours, as expected. The stores' large front windows were covered in white sheets to keep the happening private. Employees viewed a live broadcast of an event held at Apple's Cupertino, California headquarters, according to a Wednesday report.

California stores were shuttered between 9AM and noon local time. Apple has used the day as a more public memorial for its co-founder beyond just the closures. It earlier updated the Remembering Steve page with over one million e-mail tributes to Jobs received since his passing on October 5.
