LG SmartWorld app store due in the US in October

LG Electronics on Wednesday revealed it will launch a premium app service in the US later in October. Called LG SmartWorld, the service has been live in the UK since July. The paid store is offered in addition to the free apps currently available. The service is present in 39 countries.

The store offers apps for LG smart TVs, mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets, and even appliances. A 3D Zone offers 3D content such as games and videos for the LG Optimus 3D. The store has a dedicated home screen widget and allows auto-downloading of larger files using Wi-Fi.

The next few months will see the gradual roll-out of LG SmartWorld in new markets.
