Wants to encourage Beats by Dr. Dre audio apps

HTC is trying to encourage developers to write audio apps for its handsets. The phone manufacturer will provide API tools to developers so that they can write code that will bring Beats Audio into HTC mobile devices. HTC has already integrated Beats by Dr. Dre apps into its phones, including the new Sensation XL, which was rolled out earlier this month.

HTC made a strategic investment of $300 million into Beats back in August. The investment was made in anticipation of creating tools that will let third party developers more easily design listening apps that use Beats' audio processing.

HTC hasn't narrowed down timing for when the API tools will be made available. [via Engadget]
