Windows Phone 7.5 ready for most, hotspot update next week

Windows Phone 7.5 nearly rolled out in full
Microsoft's Eric Hautala said that his company's stepped up Windows Phone 7.5 updates were now virtually done. The company had good enough results that it was "opening the spigot" and that almost all of the user base would have the update. The only ones left were those with specific issues, such as some Orange subscribers.
Some of the last "scheduling" was going through, such as for LG Optimus 7 phones on Spain's Telefonica.
The Customer Experience Engineering GM also dropped hints of 3G hotspot support coming soon. Some device-specific firmware was coming to "activate new Windows Phone 7.5 features" along with speeding up other models, albeit only by carrier and device. The Internet sharing feature is one of the only elements that hasn't yet been turned on and has to lean on carrier permissions.
Updates are wrapping up a relatively quick three weeks from their start date to the end and are much faster than for the smaller NoDo update in the spring, when it took several weeks to reach everyone. Microsoft has the advantage with its more controlled platform of reaching many similar devices at once. Android, and previously Windows Mobile, were left to carriers and hardware makers that have sometimes delayed or even blocked uupdates.

Just got my 3G Hotspot on LG Optimus - Vodafone UK
I'm loving Mango and have just got another update on my LG Optimus. I had bought a MiFi from Three which is awesome, allowing my PC and phone to connect to the Internet wirelessly but now with the latest update, I can do this via my lovely Windows Phone 7.5. How cool is that! Can't wait for Skype, BBC iPlayer, further integration with Live services (especially Skydrive) and Apollo next! Keep up the good work Microsoft! Apple beware :-)
