Search giant revamps web-based e-mail UI
Google appears to be previewing a revamped Gmail interface, expanding upon the current Preview theme that is available to all users. The search giant briefly posted a YouTube video that introduced the new UI, however the company quickly attempted to hide the segment by switching the privacy settings.
The redesigned interface allows users to take advantage of a new conversation view, along with an adaptable layout that switches between different display sizes. A mirror of the YouTube post, which was posted on Google Operating System, also shows resizable chat and labels sections, advanced options in the search box, and additional high-definition themes.
Google began offering an experimental Gmail interface late in June, bringing a modernized layout with a new color scheme that resembles Google+. The redesigned UI previewed in the YouTube video has yet to be placed on the Gmail Themes list, however the company is expected to make a formal introduction in the near future.
