Nintendo 3DS and Wii to get Hulu Plus streaming

Nintendo wrapped up the week with plans on Friday to add Hulu Plus to the 3DS and the Wii. Both will get the unlimited TV streaming access sometime before the end of the year. Access should cost the same $8 per month as it does elsewhere.

The expansion is part of a further attempt to make the 3DS and Wii relevant as media hubs and close the gap with Apple, Microsoft, and Sony. All three of its rivals already have Hulu Plus as an option and have multiple other services as options. Nintendo already had Netflix but didn't have an option for more recent TV shows until now.

Nintendo is likely to want both Hulu and Netflix in place ahead of the Wii U, where gamers could not only watch on TV but on the gamepad itself.
