Apple Grand Central has Black Friday opening goal
A quick scoop on Saturday from 9to5 has hinted that the Grand Central Terminal Apple Store could be open in just a month. A construction worker let slip that the goal was to have the store finished and open for Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and the peak of holiday shopping. That would have the store ready before November 24 and most likely by November 22, the last business day before the holiday.
Snapshots from above the store show that there's still a significant amount of work left for the store. Very little is in place of Apple's signature glass, metal, and wooden tables. Supplies out in the open may suggest more substantial action soon.
The Grand Central store will be the fifth in Manhattan and the second on the East side of the borough. It has the potential for especially high traffic as it won't just serve nearby residents, some of whom are already close enough to the Fifth Avenue store, but those from other boroughs as well as travellers who end up at the transportation hub as one of their first stops in the area. At present, no electronics stores are inside the terminal despite its high traffic.
