Nintendo has continued its aggressive marketing to boost sales of its 3DS handheld gaming console by announcing a new range of 3, rare, Mario-themed 3DS editions. There will only be 1000 systems sold of each Mario theme, although with no word on whether they will make it outside of Japan. Members of Club Nintendo who purchase two Nintendo games this Christmas will be able to enter a special draw to have a chance of winning one of the new console designs.
Nintendo made the announcement as part of a pre-recorded press conference, where it also outlined the addition of 3D movie recording capabilities for the 3DS. Users will soon be able to record up to 10 minutes of 3D video as well as new time-lapse intervals, stop motion and rapid-fire shots.
The company also talked about the forthcoming version of Mario Kart for the 3DS. The game will run at an impressive 60 frames per second in 3D mode and will be capable of supporting up to 8-player multi-player online racing events. [via 1 Up]
