Android tablet focuses on budget market

ViewSonic has finally announce a launch time-frame for its ViewPad 7e tablet, which is scheduled to arrive before the end of October. The Android-based tablet features a seven-inch display with 800x600 resolution, presenting Android 2.3 with ViewSonic's own "ViewScene 3D" interface overlay. Features are modest compared to high-end Android tablets, however the device aims to focus on the entry-level market.

The OS is powered by a single-core ARM A8 processor running at 1GHz, along with 512MB of RAM. Other features include 4GB of onboard memory, a three-megapixel primary camera, 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera and HDMI output. Users can also expand storage via microSD.

The 7e will arrive at a number of retailers near the end of the month for $200.
