IOS devices stream music, song info to speakers

Logitech will soon be releasing its Air Speakers, a new sound system that features Apple's AirPlay. An inadvertent pre-release listing on Amazon UK has shown the Air Speaker, its own bookshelf-sized option. The Air Speaker incorporates a drawer that hides a dock and can take audio both over Wi-Fi from any iOS 4.2 device or later as well as over a physical link from an iPod classic or nano.

AirPlay technology uses Wi-Fi to stream uncompressed audio to devices. It has a range significantly further than the 30 foot limitation of Bluetooth. Additionally, the AirPlay signal carries information about the music track.

The Air Speaker is tentatively dated for November 4. It's priced at £299 ($477 USD) after tax. Pricing and availability in the US may have to wait for the official unveiling. [via Zatz Not Funny]
