HTC event hints at Beats-ready phone
HTC on Tuesday sent out invitations for yet another special event, now on November 3. While saying little about the subject of the New York City gathering beyond promising a "latest innovation," the notice includes the Beats Audio logo, a strong sign that it's likely the Rezound. Phones like the Sensation XL and Sensation XE both have Beats but aren't so far expected to ever reach the US in official form.
The Rezound, usually codenamed the Vigor, is HTC's effective response to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It too should have a 720p screen and at a more manageable 4.5-inch size, although it might not be as quick with a less efficient 1.5GHz Snapdragon over the 1.2GHz TI OMAP in the Nexus. Eight-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras should come along with 16GB of built-in storage and a microSDHC slot.
Verizon is so far the only carrier attached to the Rezound and may have it as an exclusive on November 10, the same day the Galaxy Nexus is reputed to be arriving in the carrier's shops.
