Nokia shows off four Symbian S40 Asha phones

Nokia also revealed four new entry-level handsets at Nokia World. The Asha (derived from Hindi and meaning hope) line includes the Asha 303, Asha 300, Asha 200 and Asha 201. The 303 is the most advanced, getting a 2.6-inch capacitive touchscreen, a hardware QWERTY keyboard, and a 1GHz processor.

It sports 3G and Wi-Fi connections and gets Nokia's cloud-based browser for compressing content from the web for less expensive browsing. Social networks, e-mail and IM programs are accessible from the device's homescreen. Angry Birds Lite is pre-installed on the handset, as are Facebook Chat, Whatsapp messaging, and Nokia Maps in some markets. Prices will vary by the market, but the phone will cost about 115 Euros (about $160) contract-free in Europe when it ships before year's end.

The Asha 300 gets a touchscreen along with a keypad, while sharing the 303's 1GHz CPU. It also gets Angry Birds along with a five-megapixel camera, music player, FM radio, Bluetooth and memory card support up to 32GB. Its price will also vary but be about 85 Euros ($118) in Europe when it arrives this fall.

The Asha 201 is a dual-SIM phone that lets users change the second SIM card without turning their phone off. It supports RenRen, Orkut and Flickr sites along with popular social networks, e-mail and IM programs. There is a customizable home screen, support for 32GB and smaller memory cards and a 52-hour battery life during music playback. The 201 arrives this fall for 60 Euros (about $84).

The Asha 200 is the 201's single-SIM version but otherwise retaining the 200's FM radio, loudspeaker, push e-mail support and the Whatsapp messaging app. Interestingly, it's priced at the same 60 Euros as well and arrive this winter.
