Dell launches Latitude ST Windows 7 tablet

Dell has finally made its Latitude ST enterprise-friendly tablet official. The long-delayed Windows 7 tablet surfaced in an official promotional clip late last week. It has now been formally announced on Dell’s European Community forum.

Dell is targeting the Atom-based tablet for the business, healthcare and education markets. It’s promotional clip, embedded below, also emphasises the way the tablet accepts both capacitive touch input as well as stylus input. For the health sector, Dell says that the tablet integrates with its Electronic Medical Records and its Mobile Clinical Computing solutions. Education markets will find that it integrates with Dell’s Connected Classroom program.

In addition to Atom power, it is expected to have a sharp 1080p display, five-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front cameras, and a solid-state drive with either 64GB or 120GB of space. It would still have the typical bulk of an Intel-based Windows tablet at 1.9 pounds and 0.63 inches thick. Its battery might help it last for between six to eight hours, which is an improvement on similar offerings by other manufacturers.

The Dell Latitude ST will be available in Europe from November 1. US availability has not yet been detailed.
