LG India said Optimus 2X won't get Android 4.0

The LG Optimus 2X may not ever get an official update to Android 4.0, LG India indicated through a response to a Facebook question. While the response has since been removed, a record of it remains and is embedded below. This also likely means the renamed version of the phone for T-Mobile, the G2X, won't get the update either.

The handsets also didn't receive the update to Android 2.3 from Android 2.2 for a long time, with it arriving this summer. Reasons for not bringing the Android 4.0 update to the Optimus 2X weren't revealed, although the screen size and resolution may be dictating factors. Performance-wise, it should be close enough with a dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM.

If this proves true, it's unlikely older or slower models will be upgraded to Android 4.0 either. [via UnwiredView]
