Amplifier handles up to four components

High-fidelity audio component maker Orb Audio has released the Booster, an "integrated mini-amp" that lets users connect and manage up to four components along with a set of speakers, all controlled by a single remote. The small device (six inches square and 1.75 inches high) offers 20 watts per channel and four stereo inputs (two RCA, two mini-jack) along with subwoofer and speaker connectors.

The unit is aimed at those who watch to match a small amplifier to a modest set of peripherals (such as a gaming console, HDTV,computer and/or iOS device dock) to a smaller-sized set of quality speakers. The Booster lacks some of the features of a full-sized receiver, such as a radio and bass/treble controls, but takes advantage of the fact that sound quality manipulation is now usually done on the more intelligent devices (such as iPods) likely to be attached to the amp, keeping it very compact.

The company sells the Booster for $164, and also offers a package that pairs the amp with two Mod1 Orb speakers for $378 ($25 off the individual prices).

    Re: missing airplay

Well, probably because airplay has not turned into the "OMG we've got to have it!" add-on feature that Apple thought it was going to be.

Plus, and maybe this is just me, this thing is a 'booster'. It boosts various signals. It isn't a receiver or playback device. Therefore, airplay is a pointless thing to add.
