App buried in Ice Cream Sandwich code

Google appears to be ready to launch a significant updated to its Reader RSS app for Android devices. The redesign, which was said to be buried in Ice Cream Sandwich, provides a new interface that appears to follow the company's recent aesthetic changes to Gmail and other web-based utilities to better suit touchscreen input.

It is unclear if the images are authentic, as the interface doesn't match changes that were brought to the app later in the day. The company made an official update to the app, bringing similar modifications to the layout but also changing the sharing and social features to focus on Google+.

It remains unclear if the new version of Google Reader available on the Android Market will replace the design that was reportedly spotted in Ice Cream Sandwich. [via Technytt]
