Viewsonic ships V3D231 3D monitor with glasses

Viewsonic has just introduced a new and still uncommon 3D monitor the V3D231. While common with TV, the 23-inch screen is one of the few computer displays to let viewers to wear inexpensive polarized 3D glasses instead of the usual active shutter glasses. It outputs at 1080p in 2D with a static 1,000:1 contrast ratio but a dynamic 20,000,000:1 ratio.

Response time is a fast 2ms. Software to convert 2D content to 3D is included with the screen, and the hardware builds in SRS Premium speakers with 2W of power each for basic audio. Connections include a 3D-capable HDMI 1.4a as well as VGA and DVI-D.

Included with the monitor is one set of polarized glasses and a set of clip-on glasses that attach to prescription glasses. European buyers can now purchase the monitor for 279 euros. In the US, the monitor costs $300 at retailers. [via SlashGear]
