Siri users report serious US outage

Cause so far unexplained
Many US iPhone 4S owners are reporting an outage of Siri, the device's integrated voice command system. "I'm really sorry, but I can't take any requests right now. Please try again in a little while," reads one error message triggered by asking a question. Another is similar, but begins with "There's something wrong, and I can't answer your questions right now."
Although the main requirement for using Siri is a 4S, it also has to communicate with Apple servers, where the actual processing of questions takes place. The service could therefore be suffering overload, but the problem might also be attributable to a glitch with the servers themselves. Apple has yet to comment on the situation publicly.
