Tweets, tests reveal webOS 3.0.5 due with Synergy

The discontinued HP TouchPad may soon receive an OS update to webOS 3.0.5, webOS France found. A user shared his Lithium Benchmark Program score over Twitter for a TouchPad running on 3.0.5. Developers are also otherwise tweeting using webOS Synergy, suggesting Twitter integration will be part of the updated OS.

The logs of the app further revealed that a TouchPad carried by AT&T and with 3.0.5 onboard was to be released on November 2. That device doesn't exist, however.

The performance index of the updated TouchPad was 73, with lower scores better. This compares favorably to TouchPads running on webOS 3.0.4 and overclocked to 1.8GHz which scored between 75 and 76.

In spite of cancelling webOS mobile hardware, HP has so far pledged to keep supporting the platform with updates for at least awhile later. New features are potential surprises, however, given the limited audience.
