Call of Duty MW3 launch teams with HTC
Best Buy is trying an unusual strategy to clear out phones tied to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launch. Those who pre-order or buy the first-person shooter between November 6 and 12 can get one of three HTC smartphones for free, including either the Droid Incredible 2, Evo 4G, or Inspire 4G. All of the free hardware requires a two-year contract.
Everyone who opts for both also gets a free subscription to the Call of Duty Premium Elite service for downloadables and other perks. They get a limited edition case, presumably for the phone.
The game launches at midnight on November 8 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and should be accompanied by a limited edition Xbox 360 that bundles the game with special artwork.
Best Buy is likely clearing out phones that already have or will have replacements, such as the Vivid, Rezound, and Evo 3D.
