Roku's HBO GO support goes live

Roku HBO GO now live

Roku has announced that the promised HBO GO service addition to its Roku media streaming boxes is now live. Roku users now have access to over 1,400 HBO shows. However, the service requires users to be authenticated according to their legacy cable provider, but now offers the convenience of delivering their content through the one player.

Roku is currently shipping three different Roku boxes. The HD is retailing for $60, the XD for $80 and the XS for $100. This will soon be joined by the LT, which will retail for just $50. Apple’s streaming Apple TV box still retails for $100.

Historically, Roku has fought to gain market share from Apple. The wide range of streaming media devices at different price points that it offers, as well as the wide range of content now available makes it well placed to further challenge Apple and other competitors in the market.
