Unofficial leak dates Galaxy Nexus for Verizon
A newly-leaked screen capture brought out by AndroidCentral reveals Verizon may now get the Galaxy Nexus on November 17. Previously, Verizon would only reveal that the first Android 4.0 device will arrive in time for the holidays. The date, although still unofficial, lines up nicely with the range-topping phone's promised release in Europe.
The screen capture is said to be a 'work in progress' by the source that will be sent out to Verizon stores next week. It will be accompanied by promotional posters and flyers.
If accurate, Google plans to release the device at the same time across the world, possibly to address complaints that it staggered the Nexus S launch to where Canada and other countries got it only when it was already near-obsolete. It may also help communicate Google's view of the importance of its stock UI much faster. Android 4.0 is the first iteration of the mobile OS that will run both on smartphones and optimized tablets alike and has polish that previously needed a company like HTC or Samsung to add in.
