Costco and Best Buy hint Nexus, Nook futures
Two retailers gave clues as to future plans for Android hardware on Saturday. A leak from Costco has put the Verizon edition of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus at a $290 price on a contract. The Android Central tip isn't concrete but suggests Costco will have a $10 discount off of Verizon's very common $300 price for new LTE-capable phones, like its Nexus model.
No mention was made of other carriers' versions, although that doesn't preclude their arrival. Other retailers like Best Buy may have deals to carry unlocked and non-Verizon Galaxy Nexus variants. Most anticipate at least the Verizon hardware being ready on or near November 17.
Separately, Best Buy has partly confirmed rumors for the Nook Tablet launch next week by cutting the price on the Nook Color to $200. The price change is permanent, it said. Barnes & Noble was expected to make the price cut to help drive sales of the dual-core, 16GB storage Nook Tablet at the earlier $250 price.
