Motorola Corvair coming as Android 2.3 TV remote

Motorola should be acting on hints of Android integration with TV soon after a sighting confirmed its smallest tablet ever. The Corvair seen by The Verge would have just a six-inch screen and Android 2.3, but it would serve as a much more advanced TV remote. The heavily customized hardware could control a TV or a DVR set-top box directly through conventional IR but also ZigBee-based, no-line-of-sight RF4CE technology.

It may have the option of directly streaming Internet content to a TV through Wi-Fi, although what services would allow that aren't apparent. A 4,000mAh battery would be large for the screen size and help keep charging to a minimum.

With the retail box already finished, it's probable the Corvair is close to being released. Motorola might wait until CES in January to show the tablet, but its role as a remote could see it bundled with cable or satellite TV service without having to ship to a store.
