Google Translate for iPhone gets Indic languages

Adds 5 experimental languages spoken in India
Google has added experimental support for five new Indic languages in its Google Translate app for the iPhone (free, App Store). The five "alpha" languages, spoken in India and nearby, include Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu. The update increases the number of languages supported by the app on the iPhone to 63.
Google began supporting these languages on Translate on desktops and mobile web apps back in June. The company advises that, because these five languages are still test versions, translations may be less fluent and may include more untranslated words than some of the more traditional languages supported.
In addition to translating text for over sixty languages, Google Translate for iPhone now supports voice input in 17 of these languages, as well as text-to-speech conversion in 24 of them.
