Tango video chat now out for Windows Phone OS

As promised, the Tango video calling app is now live for Windows Phone handsets in the US (Windows Marketplace). The cross-platform software lets users make free phone calls and video calls using 3G or Wi-Fi networks. Calls can be made to and from iOS phones and tablets, PCs and Android devices that also have the software installed.

Users can call using just voice and then switch to video chat. International calls are also free, as the information is sent as data. The app will also automatically import contacts who also have Tango on their devices.

Despite sharing its name with the repeatedly rumored Tango Windows Phone update, the app isn't directly associated with Microsoft. A premium, paid version of the app is expected to come, though no official information on this or how it will differ is known.
