500GB, 1TB options on sale
Storage maker Iomega says it has released an updated Mac Edition of the eGo Portable Hard Drive. 500GB and 1TB capacities are available, and each unit includes two FireWire 800 ports in addition to a USB 2.0 connection. HFS+ formatting is used, along with 256-bit AES encryption.
One difference with the new hardware is a revised external design, meant to make the drive more "elegant and cool." Special casing is meanwhile used to protect it from falls up to seven feet. A 500GB unit is listed at $180, while 1TB costs $230.

7 feet?
protecting from a fall of 7 feet? the eGo I have (old design) didn't protect it from a fall of about 18 inches - the drive was instantly hosed.
interesting how their new drive looks exactly like the g-tech mobile and the western digital passport studio. are they all owned by the same people?!
