Adidas makes Nike Plus-rivalling f50 official
Adidas on Friday hoped to bring intelligence to soccer (international football) by bringing out a miCoach-equipped version of its adizero f50 shoes. They contain a sensor in the outsole like Nike+ shoes but have an added level of detail that helps track the on-off pacing of a player on the pitch. They cover basics like average speed and distance but can also single out the frequency and distance of sprints as well as the stride.
The flash memory in the tracking cell is enough to hold seven hours of data, enough to cover some practice and whole games. It connects to a Mac, Windows PC, or Apple mobile device using a wireless adapter that plugs either into standard USB or into an iPad or iPhone's Dock Connector. Apps for each let players check their recent and historical data to see where they might need to improve.
Adidas has been quiet on when the adizero f50 miCoach shoes will be available and how much they cost, although their focus on field play may see them go to teams first.
