Google Android apps get updates

Google has enhanced two of its core apps for Android phones. YouTube (free, Android Market) now has a +1 button to recommend videos as well as the addition of annotations. Google Maps (free, Android Market) now has nearby live events added to its Place pages for five major cities.

In addition to the new +1 button, Google has added a "watch later" queue to the YouTube app. Also, it's possible to edit video details in mid-upload, an option previously left only to the web.

Google Maps' live event information is currently limited to New York, San Francisco, Paris, Zurich, and London, although more are likely to come in the future.
