Google Music store shots leak, show free song a day

Google Music seen two days early

Google's plans to launch its music store at its November 16 event were solidified after a discovery of the storefront itself. Venezuela's TecnoDroidVe saw an in-development version on its phone that showed, as expected, a subset of Android Market that would keep the modern interface. Pricing would be similar to other shops, but with an aggressive giveaway: edging closer to Amazon than Apple, it would give a free song every day.

The layout would have an emphasis on related music with a more visual representation of connections to a given artist or track. No signs have been shown so far of rumored Google+ free sharing or of a direct tie-in with Google Music cloud storage.

Google's store may only ever show up on Android in mobile, given the connection, but may be accessible to those on competing platforms through the web, much as it's possible to view movies.

With code near ready, the music store could go live in tandem with the Google event in Los Angeles. Rumors that it might go without independent labels may be partly unfounded, since Warner Music Group's Green Day and Paramore as well as Shakira and other pop artists are in the catalog.

The store will be the last major piece of an ecosystem Google has been developing for at least a year and a half that includes books and videos. So far, the strategy has mostly appeared to mimic Apple's iTunes and would be a way to guarantee content for Android devices where a wide variety of devices and regional differences often prevents users from having consistent access to media stores like they would have on iOS.
