Adobe launches six apps in Android Market

Adobe has posted its promised Touch Apps in the Android Market for Android tablets. Introduced at the MAX conference early last month, the apps include Photoshop Touch ($9.99, Android Market), Collage ($9.99, Android Market), Debut ($9.99, Android Market), Ideas ($9.99, Android Market), Kuler ($9.99, Android Market), and Proto ($9.99, Android Market). Each is meant to help creative or business types accomplish different tasks, and all require Android 3.1 or later.

In addition to the OS requirement, the hardware needs to have a screen size of at least 8.9 inches and a resolution of 1280x800, ruling out the new wave of seven-inch Android 3.2 tablets.

The Photoshop app gets core Photoshop editing features optimized for touch inputs. Users can apply professional effects, with a tablet-exclusive Scribble Selection Tool that lets them extract objects from an image. The edited images can then be shared quickly thanks to integrated services such as Facebook.

The Collage app lets users create "moodboards" from images, drawings, text and Creative Suite files in order to inspire work. Images can be imported, and there are four customizable pen types for drawing, adding text, and applying color themes.

Debut is for users who want to share designs with clients. It supports tablet-compatible versions of Creative Suite files, including Photoshop layers and Illustrator art boards. Users can add notes and drawings on top.

Ideas uses a vector-based tool for drawing that Adobe claims is easy to master. Compatible image files can be imported and controlled as separate layers.

Kuler is a color theme app that helps users find the ideal color theme through swatches. A social aspect involves rating and commenting on themes.

Proto is made for developing interactive wireframes and prototypes for websites and mobile apps on a tablet. Ideas can then be shared with clients. The resulting prototype can then be exported using industry standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Other than already available Adobe Ideas, iPad versions of the remaining five are due out early next year.
