Verizon dates, prices rugged G'zOne Ravine 2

As expected, Verizon has now officially revealed that the Casio G'zOne Ravine 2 rugged flip phone will soon arrive at its stores. The clamshell meets military-spec 810G standards for resistance to water, shock, dust, vibration, salt, fog, humidity, as well as altitude and temperature extremes. It also runs both CDMA and GSM to support world roaming with a suitable plan.

Like other Verizon rugged phones, it has access to Verizon's push-to-talk network. VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn directions is also accessible through the handset. A microSD card slot supports up to 32GB cards, and Bluetooth is onboard as well. A 3.2-megapixel camera has a built-in flash and video recording.

Seven modes of operation carry over from earlier g'zOne phones, such as Earth Compass, Walking Counter, Astro Calendar, Tides, Thermometer, Sunrise Sunset and Star Gaze, all meant for hikers and other outdoor fans.

The phone will be available online on November 17 and arrive in Verizon stores on the 23rd. It will cost $150 after a $50 mail-in rebate on a new two-year contract.
